...And we’re back! Well, sort of. The ‘ol blog was in dire need of a makeover. I also changed the name. Sorry. I know that’s annoying. And although I liked Owl Notes, it was a name picked on a whim because it seemed cute and fun, but nothing that really held any personal relevance. Not that every blog should have a title chalked full of meaning--I just wanted something a little more relevant to the things and life I like to write about.
So I thought long and hard about what I did want to name this blog. Mostly because I don’t want to do this to you again (or myself for that matter) and decide in 4 years that I need to rename it just one more time. Luckily, I was smart enough to ask my mom for some ideas and she pointed me in the direction of a poem by Emily Dickinson about hope:
That perches in the soul, And sings the tune--without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chillest land, And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me. |
The more I thought about it, the more perfect it was! Hope not only has a lot of personal meaning for me for many reasons that I can hopefully communicate through my blog over time, but I feel it is so appropriate for my life and everybody else trying to make it in this big bad world. From hoping that your jeans will fit to hoping that your kids will sleep through the night OR from hoping to raise children that love their Savior, Jesus Christ to hoping you might find a few moments in the middle of all of that to blog. I’ve realized my everyday life adds up to one big, ginormous hope fest!
These two being best friends--is something I hope for
As it should be. I think a big part of this life is centered around hope. Hope in our Savior, hope in our family and friends, and hope for the small things that make us happy. So, for as silly an unimportant as it is, I’m excited for this change to my blog.
The design isn’t quite finished. As I’ve explained before, I am sloooowly teaching myself how to use InDesign (a lot of hopes tied up in that one), not to mention figuring out how to make my blog look the way I want it, but I was missing actually writing on my blog--so it's just going to have to be a work in progress. Just like everything else in my life :)
I love it - perfect blog name. I need a blog makeover too. When you get done with yours and want to practice some more, I'll totally let you practice on mine! ;)
